How to Build a Meal Plan from Scratch

Want to build your weekly meal plan from the ground up? Whether you want full control or just don’t need automatic suggestions, here’s how to start with a blank plan and add exactly what you want.

Step 1: Turn Off Automatic Suggestions

To start fresh:

  1. Go to your Settings

  2. Toggle off Meal Plan Suggestions

This will prevent new plans from being auto-filled with recipes.

Step 2: Add Recipes Manually

There are a few ways to add recipes to your plan:

  • From the Meal Plan view: Click the “+” next to any meal and select Add a Recipe

  • From Quick Search (Desktop only): Use the magnifying glass in the sidebar to search and drag recipes into your plan

  • From the Recipes page: Use the three-dot menu on any recipe to select Add to Meal Plan

Step 3: Customize Your Plan

Once recipes are in place, you can:

  • Move them between days and meals

  • Delete any you don’t want

  • Add individual items or leftovers

  • Adjust your servings in Settings

Quick tip: You can also leave meals blank by setting servings to 0 — perfect for nights out or flexible days.

That’s it. You’ve got a fully custom meal plan, made just for you.
